Teeth Whitening Instructions
- Make sure your teeth are flossed and brushed thoroughly before inserting the whitening trays.
- Apply a very small amount of gel into each space in the tray. Put the trays in your mouth. If there happens to be any excess wipe off with your finger then rinse off at once.
- If any gel is left on the gums they may temporarily turn a little white. There is no need to worry as this is not permanent.
- We recommend wearing the trays at night as there is less saliva in the mouth. The whitening gel is active for approximately four hours, so after this time, if you wake in the night, you may remove the trays if you wish.
- When you remove the trays rinse them with cold water, to remove any gel, and brush them if necessary. Place them back into container.
- Brush your teeth and avoid bright coloured mouthwash.
Information
- Avoid highly coloured food and drink for the first three hours after removing the trays.
- Avoid carbonated and acidic drinks throughout the bleaching period, these may make your teeth more sensitive.
- Some sensitivity is to be expected but will settle down after a short period of time.
- It is advisable to use sensodyne toothpaste if you suffer sensitivity.
- For extreme sensitivity it may be better to alternate one night of whitening gel with one night of fluoride gel (GelKam).
- The process may take three weeks or even longer for very dark areas
- Make sure the whitening gel is kept refrigerated
- The tray may need some adjustment if you suffer from any specific areas of gum irritation.
- To maintain the whiteness we recommend you whiten your teeth for one night every alternate month.
