Acupuncture
We are
are pleased to be able to offer this additional service to our clients
following Dr Loader and Dr Liu's recent training with The British Dental
Acupuncture Society.
Acupuncture is a medical
treatment developed in China thousands of years ago that has received a
huge amount of interest in the last 20 years, and is now becoming
increasingly popular in the West. It may be used to treat a wide range
of medical problems that can be diagnosed and treated by your dentist.
Very large claims have
been made for acupuncture in the past and not all of them can be
substantiated. Such claims are worrying and can alienate many people who
might otherwise be sympathetic to the view that acupuncture can - in
selected cases - be an effective method of treatment.
We believe that
acupuncture can play an important role in dentistry today, and in the
future, but it must be approached in a scientific and rational way.
Acupuncture will not
replace the advanced and sophisticated dental tools that we use today,
but in the hands of a trained practitioner it can be a powerful tool
that can complement and enhance existing treatments. It can also help
relieve symptoms of some physical and psychological conditions and may
encourage the patient's body to heal and repair itself, if it is able to
do so. |
